You have more than 30 levels, with a campaign taking around 8 hours per protagonist on Medium. The Boltgun 2 levels you visit depend on your campaign branches: you choose your next destination between missions, and a single playthrough cannot cover every region. Treat that runtime as a player's experience on Medium when planning your run.
How Many Levels Does Boltgun 2 Have?
Boltgun 2 has more than 30 levels across its branching campaign.
The two dated counts use different terms:
| Date | Campaign count | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| September 23, 2026 | More than 30 levels | Use this count for the overall campaign. |
| October 14, 2026 | Approximately 30 missions | A player's approximate count, using “missions” rather than “levels.” |
That player also described missions as usually containing 2–3 levels, with roughly 15 missions encountered in one character's playthrough and several optional side missions. Keep those estimates separate: multiplying them together would give you a misleading total.
The practical difference from a straight stage sequence is choice. Finishing a mission opens the way to another destination, but taking one branch means leaving other regions behind during that playthrough.
How Long Is Boltgun 2?
Boltgun 2 length is around 8 hours per protagonist on Medium, based on one player's campaign run. Use that as your planning estimate for a character's campaign.
A separate player's Chapter 1 run finished a level in almost 16 minutes, found 5 secrets and earned its seal. At the level-complete screen, you see Nyra Veyrath's Dauntless result with a time of 15:53.13, alongside the Kills, Difficulty, Secrets and Seal fields.

That short level result and the 8-hour campaign estimate describe different scales. If you are hunting collectibles, track your Boltgun 2 purity seals separately from simply reaching the end of your chosen route.
To spend less time finding the next objective, use the automap to track visited areas and remaining objectives. The Navigation Guide can also show you a path to your next objective. These are useful when you want to keep moving instead of circling an area.
Which Campaign Branch Should You Choose?
Choose the branch with the environment and enemy faction you want to tackle next. After Chapter 1, the northern and southern destinations offer different fights, and selecting one excludes the alternative at that choice.
Northern Branch: There Is Only War
Take the northern destination for an arid region where Astra Militarum forces are fighting followers of Slaanesh. Pick this route if you want that faction encounter; one player chose it specifically to see what Slaanesh's forces were like.
Southern Branch: Nurgle's Nightmare
Take the southern destination for a dense rainforest with a Nurgle infestation. You help Imperial forces fight the corruption threatening the region. Pick this route if the jungle setting and Nurgle opposition appeal to you.

Check the Boltgun 2 enemies before committing if the faction matters more to you than the scenery.
Read both mission summaries before selecting your destination. Choosing one branch closes the other option at that fork, so you cannot cover both choices in the same pass through it.
After finishing your chosen campaign route, another run gives you a reason to pursue the destinations you passed over. Compare the Boltgun 2 characters before deciding who to take through your next campaign.
