Malum Caedo and Nyra Veyrath are the 2 playable characters. You choose one at the beginning and play that character for the entire single-player campaign. The Boltgun 2 characters have different weapons and abilities, so your choice determines how you move and fight as well as whose voice you hear.
Who are the playable characters in Boltgun 2?
You can play as returning Ultramarine Malum Caedo or new Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath.
| Character | Identity | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Malum Caedo | Ultramarine Sternguard Veteran and the original Boltgun protagonist | Greater toughness, Boltgun and Chainsword combat, lunge and charge abilities |
| Nyra Veyrath | Adepta Sororitas Celestian | Faster movement, fire-based weapons, a Power Sword and Fervent Slide |
Malum returns as a main character after fighting the Chaos uprising on Graia. Nyra gives you another protagonist to choose for the sequel's campaign. For the wider gameplay changes, see Boltgun 2 vs Boltgun 1.
What is the Boltgun 2 Sister of Battle's name?
The Battle Sister's name is Nyra Veyrath, a Celestian within the Adepta Sororitas, also known as the Sisters of Battle.
She is the new playable character. Her signature weapons include the Bolt Pistol, Flamer, Meltagun and Power Sword. If you're looking for the Boltgun 2 sister's name or the Adepta Sororitas character, both point to Nyra.
Which Boltgun 2 character should you choose?
Choose Malum for survivability and direct assaults, or Nyra if you prefer speed and movement combinations. Because you choose your character for the entire campaign, pick the combat style you want to keep using.
Malum Caedo: recommended for survivability
Malum moves more slowly than Nyra, but his toughness makes him the better fit if you prioritise staying power. His Chainsword Lunge launches him toward an enemy, while Obliterating Charge lets him rush into the fight. He also carries frag grenades.

Use the lunge to close the gap when you want to commit to close combat. Slower movement does not mean you have to walk all the way into melee range.
Nyra Veyrath: recommended for mobility
Nyra's Fervent Slide sends her forward with a Power Sword thrust that damages and knocks back enemies in her path. Jump during the slide to leap higher; holding the jump input gives you a time-slowed leap.

Her Melta Bomb can slow time during a throw and detonate early with another input. One player described jumping around, throwing bombs and triggering them once enemies moved into range. That gives you a practical combination to try: slide, leap, throw, then detonate when the crowd is close.
Compare the Boltgun 2 weapons before committing if the arsenal matters more to you than movement.
Who are the Boltgun 2 voice actors?
Rahul Kohli voices Malum Caedo, and Alanah Pearce voices Nyra Veyrath.
| Playable character | Voice actor |
|---|---|
| Malum Caedo | Rahul Kohli |
| Nyra Veyrath, the Sister of Battle | Alanah Pearce |
Your character choice also decides whose combat taunts you hear throughout the campaign.
Can you play as Krieg in Boltgun 2?
The Death Korps of Krieg fight as Imperial allies on some planets; your playable choices are Malum and Nyra.

Give those troopers room when charging through a fight. One player reported accidentally hitting assisting Krieg soldiers while ploughing through enemies, so watch your charge path around allies.
Who is the villain in Boltgun 2?
Vashtorr the Arkifane is the villain, a powerful demigod opposing Malum and Nyra.
Your campaign takes you between worlds to cleanse the corruption powering his daemonic machine and work toward a showdown with Vashtorr himself. He is an antagonist, while Malum and Nyra are the playable protagonists. See Boltgun 2 enemies for the hostile factions and bosses you face.
With your character picked, you have a movement style and arsenal to build around. Head to Boltgun 2 levels to plan your campaign route.
