Combat

Enemies include Nurgle, Tzeentch, Khorne, Slaanesh and Black Legion forces, with Vashtorr as the final foe. Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 enemies include 40+ new foes across a campaign that takes you from hive-city heights to jungle swamps and the heart of the Ark of Omen. You face them as Malum Caedo or Nyra Veyrath, whose different weapons and movement abilities change how you handle the same pressure.

Which Factions Do You Fight in Boltgun 2?

You fight the forces of all four Chaos gods, Nurgle, Tzeentch, Khorne and Slaanesh, alongside returning Black Legion enemies. Each god's forces bring a different mix of daemons and Chaos Space Marines.

Chaos god factionEnemy legionWhat you need to watch
NurgleDeath GuardRegenerating swarms, resilient Marines and hazardous ground
TzeentchThousand SonsDense ranged fire and Terminators that rapidly reposition
KhorneWorld EatersCharging daemons, mounted enemies and low-health blood rage
SlaaneshEmperor's ChildrenElusive melee attackers, sonic weapons and distant bolter fire

The Death Korps of Krieg fight alongside you in several levels. Their gas masks and trench coats belong to Imperial allies, so keep them separate from the hostile faction roster.

What New Enemies Are in Boltgun 2?

Boltgun 2 adds 40+ new enemies, including Daemonettes, Bloodcrushers, Plague Marines, Rubric Marines and Terminators from both Nurgle and Tzeentch.

The additions change more than appearances. A mounted Bloodcrusher can split into separate threats, Nurgle attacks make parts of the floor dangerous, and Scarab Occult Terminators can shift away when targeted. If you are comparing Boltgun 2 vs Boltgun 1, those behaviors are a useful starting point: recognizing an enemy now also means recognizing how it changes your movement through an arena.

Which Emperor's Children Enemies Are in Boltgun 2?

The Emperor's Children bring Noise Marines and Tormentors, while Slaanesh's daemonic forces include Daemonettes. Together, they pressure you at range and disrupt you up close.

EnemyAttack behaviorHow to respond
DaemonetteLarge arcing leaps followed by a zigzagging phase attack; claws and a disorienting screen effect at close rangeTrack its approach and preserve room to move before it reaches you
Noise MarineSonic weaponry sends damaging shockwaves toward youKeep watching the ranged threat while dealing with nearby daemons
TormentorFast front-line Marine with accurate bolter fire from across the battlefieldAvoid standing still to chase a single melee target

A Daemonette is especially awkward because its closing attack does not follow a simple straight approach. Letting it reach clawing distance also brings the screen effect into play. Give yourself space before that happens rather than trying to recover your bearings with a Marine firing at you from farther away.

Which World Eaters and Khorne Enemies Do You Fight?

Khorne's enemies include World Eaters, Khorne Berzerkers, Bloodletters, Juggernauts, Bloodcrushers and Flesh Hounds. Expect pressure from fast approaches and attacks that become more dangerous if you leave a wounded enemy alive.

EnemyWhat it doesPractical priority
BloodletterLeaps toward you from a distance and attacks with a HellbladeKeep enough space to react to the leap
BloodcrusherA Bloodletter rides a charging Juggernaut; the pair can split when either reaches low or no healthFollow the surviving threat instead of assuming the mounted unit is finished
JuggernautCharges and consumes nearby corpses to regain health, including its former riderKeep pressure on it near bodies so it cannot freely recover
Flesh HoundCircles its prey before closing rapidly; hunts in packsCheck your surroundings when you spot one
Khorne BerzerkerEnters blood rage at low health, increasing movement speed, fire rate and damageFinish a wounded Berzerker when you can do so safely

Bloodcrushers deserve particular attention. Damaging the rider and mount does not guarantee a single clean kill, and a surviving Juggernaut can turn the bodies around it into healing. Stay ready to change targets as the pair separates.

A Bloodcrusher charges through the flames; the rider and Juggernaut can split.

Avoid spreading damage across several Berzerkers if you can finish one instead. Leaving them wounded gives their blood rage more time to work against you. You still need an escape route, especially when Flesh Hounds are circling beyond your immediate target.

Which Thousand Sons Enemies Are in Boltgun 2?

The Thousand Sons field Rubric Marines and Scarab Occult Terminators, joined by returning Tzeentch daemons: Screamers, Flamers and Horrors. Their ranged units can fill an arena with fire while you try to keep attacking.

Rubric Marines carry Inferno Bolters and Soulreaper Cannons. Keep moving while returning fire; staring down one Marine makes it harder to manage the incoming bolts around you.

Scarab Occult Terminators use Combi-Bolters, Hellfyre Missiles and Heavy Warpflamers. Their heavy armor and slow movement do not make them stationary targets: they can phase-shift when targeted and rapidly redeploy. Reacquire the Terminator after it moves instead of continuing to shoot its old position.

For the weapons you can bring against these threats, see Boltgun 2 weapons. Your own arsenal depends on which character you take into the campaign.

Which Nurgle Enemies Do You Fight?

Nurgle's enemies include Poxwalkers, Death Guard Plague Marines and Blightlord Terminators. Their combination of regeneration, resilience and hazardous ground makes safe movement space valuable.

EnemyMain dangerWhat to keep doing
PoxwalkerRegenerating swarms rise out of the ground and close inCut through the crowd before it reaches clawing distance
Plague MarineResilient ranged enemy whose plague belcher fires infectious slime and creates hazard zonesWatch the floor as well as the Marine
Blightlord TerminatorThreatens at range and in melee; blight grenades and corrupt flails create noxious areasMove out of affected ground rather than staying for extra hits

Against a Blightlord, closing the distance does not remove the danger. Its flail can erupt corrupting energy from the ground around it. Chasing extra melee damage into that area trades your movement space for exposure to the hazard. Reposition first, then resume attacking.

Which Bosses Appear in Boltgun 2?

Vashtorr the Arkifane is the main antagonist and the opponent in the final showdown; players have also fought Lord of Skulls, Keeper of Secrets and Lord of Change. These names give you specific boss encounters to look out for without treating every large enemy as a boss.

BossRole in your campaign
Vashtorr the ArkifaneA powerful demigod whose daemonic machine is powered by corruption; your campaign leads to a confrontation with him
Lord of SkullsA boss encountered in player playthroughs
Keeper of SecretsA boss encountered in player playthroughs
Lord of ChangeA boss encountered in player playthroughs

Your objective against Vashtorr reaches beyond clearing individual arenas: you travel between worlds to cleanse the corruption powering his machine and attempt to banish him back to the Warp. The final boss battle also features music by Mick Gordon.

With the faction roster in mind, you can distinguish a charging Khorne threat from Nurgle's hazardous ground or Tzeentch's ranged pressure before committing to an attack. Next, check Boltgun 2 levels to understand the branching campaign you will take through those encounters.
